Patch Testing Guide

Patch testing skincare products is a easy way to help you predict whether a negative reaction will occur from a new product you wish to incorporate in your routine. Everybody is unique and that is no different when it comes to our skin and its tolerances and sensitivities, this means skincare and cosmetics cannot be treated as ‘one size fits all’ products. Veldere products are subjected to vigorous safety and standards tests to bring consumers safe and effective skincare products with a high satisfaction rate. It is recommended to perform a simple patch test before incorporating a new product into your Skincare routine.

To assist you in performing a patch test we have outlined a general method for conducting your own patch testing based on the type of product.

Leave-On Products (Serums, Moisturizers, Oils)

  • Apply a small amount of product to the upper forearm (clean).
  • Keep the area dry and clean.
  • Rinse the test area after 24 hours.
  • In the instance redness, burning, itching, blistering or irritation is observed at any time throughout the test, do not use the product.

Rinse-Off Products (Soaps, Cleaners, Shampoos, Conditioners, Body Washes, Grooming Products)

  • Apply a small amount of product to the upper forearm (clean).
  • Keep the area dry and clean.
  • Rinse the test area after 24 hours.
  • In the instance redness, burning, itching, blistering or irritation is observed at any time throughout the test, do not use the product.

VELDERE Radiance + Repair SERUM

If you develop severe irritation, hives, swelling of eyes and mouth, blistering, or difficulty breathing or any other abnormal symptoms immediately rinse off, cease use and consult a physician right away

VELDERE Detoxifying Clay Mask
  • Patch testing prior to use is advised: Apply a small amount of product to a small area on the upper forearm once a day for three days to test if you are sensitive to this product. If you develop severe irritation, hives, swelling of eyes and mouth, blistering, or difficulty breathing or any other abnormal symptoms immediately rinse off, cease use and consult a physician right away.

Please note that the patch test is only for determining initial irritation reactions to products and does not guarantee similar results when applied to other areas of the body including the face, or after continuous use. It does not account for underlying conditions and should not be used for the diagnosis of hypersensitivity or allergic contact dermatitis. If you are concerned about starting a new product, please consult a dermatologist prior to use.
